Tell us about your business/company or hustle. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?

We are a team of magicians who performs in-person and virtual magic shows for private events, weddings, corporate events, and basically everything you can think of that needs entertainment. We are known for being a unicorn in the magician industry. We don’t perform “magic tricks” but rather we make even the most skeptical person believe that magic might be real. We combine magic, mentalism, and hypnosis so the dynamic of the experience is something that people are willing to pay high dollars for.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you got started and how you got to where you are today.

Johnny and his family moved to Los Angeles from Taiwan when he was 14 years old. He found it hard to fit in as communication was a challenge early on. English would be the immigrant’s third language, so it took a while for him to pick up. Because of his background and ethnicity, he got picked on a lot in school and was often victim to bullying by other kids. He kept this from this family and learned instead to fend for himself. Because of that, he became independent at an early age.Johnny started doing magic tricks while still in school. When he was a junior in college, he decided to pursue his passion and do magic shows for a living. Starting in his 200-square-foot dorm room, Johnny worked hard to build his brand. He designed his website and learned how to market himself.Without access to any mentors, Johnny strived to get better, teaching himself magic tricks, mentalism, hypnosis, comedy, and showmanship. His journey wasn’t always comfortable, as he struggled early on due to the lack of resources. Magic is a trade with a steep learning curve, but Johnny worked hard to master his craft. There was also some opposition within the family as the traditional background of Johnny demanded that he would choose a less risky path. But the magician pressed on.

What specific obstacles or challenges have you faced while on your journey? What were they and how have you overcome them?

Communication was hard since English is not my first language. Magic props are expensive and I started with only a deck of cards. There are no “how to be a magician as a fulltime career” guide out there. I had to figure out everything myself.

What quality or characteristic of yours do you feel is most important to you as an entrepreneur? Why?

To always stay creative. To always think from the audience’s point of view. The more creative we get the more unique the experience we can create for people! The more we can think from the audience’s point of view the more we can predict what will happen during our performances and always stay many steps ahead of the audience.

What advice would you give to someone who is just entering into your field?

The entertainment industry is an extremely competitive industry so my most practical advice will be to build up your reputation and seo so people can find you as an expert.

How has AHN contributed to your journey? Who have you met along the way? What problems has AHN helped solve for you?

I just met Jerry who is going to help me with SEO. AHN is a platform that inspires me. In the magician industry, I am probably the only Asian magician in Los Angeles and for me to compete with others on an equal ground was difficult but I never doubt I could do it.
