Job description

Major Responsibilities
Woori Juntos’s Sr. Development Associate will be a key member of a local team that ensures that Woori Juntos has the critical resources required to support movement building,
organizing and advocacy campaigns, and infrastructure development. This position
involves a high volume of writing and therefore requires strong writing, editing,
proofreading, and research skills. With the goal of building a strong, informed, and active Asian American leadership at local and national levels, responsibilities include:

Grant Research, Writing and Reporting (55%)
Work with the executive team to draft and edit grant proposals and reports for Woori Juntos.
Meet with Woori Juntos staff as needed to collect information for grant applications and reports.
Interview organizations to which Woori Juntos provides subgrants to collect information for grant applications and reports.
Research demographic and other relevant information to strengthen grant proposals.
Research potential funders for Woori Juntos.
Update Woori Juntos’ grant calendar to ensure that deadlines are met.
Organize and maintain grant files for Woori Juntos.
Regularly attend staff and strategy meetings to obtain information for grant writing, reporting and fundraising purposes.
Coordinate grant management with NAKASEC national development team.

Fundraising (30%)
Lead segments of work for Woori Juntos fundraising campaigns (individual, small business donors especially in the communities we serve, including events (in-person and virtual).
Track sponsors and individual outreach for fundraising events.
Administer gift acknowledgements.
Draft copy for social media posts and email and direct mail appeals.
Participate in field work, actions, and other duties as assigned.

Donor Cultivation & Appreciation (15%)
Assist in maintaining and managing fundraising databases and tracking systems.
Facilitate staff and board 1:1 donor cultivation efforts for accountability and act as general board liaison.
Coordinate end-of-year donor and volunteer appreciation.
Assist in creating and writing content for regularly occurring donor newsletters.
Answer inquiries from donors.
Travel to funder meetings as needed.

Experience & Skills Needed:
Strong vision of community empowerment and deep commitment to change the world with marginalized communities.
At least two years of nonprofit administrative, fundraising, and grant research/writing/reporting experience required.
Strong research and writing skills.
Willingness to be a bold, out-of-the-box and creative thinker.
Enjoys both listening to and sharing ideas and opinions.
Willingness to propose and think about innovative ideas and concepts.
Ready to resist racism, patriarchy, homophobia, classism, xenophobia, nativism, and ableism.
Believes that marginalized community members can and should lead organizing and advocacy campaigns.
Believes that collective groups can be more powerful than individuals.
Experience organizing or supporting Asian Americans towards social, racial, and economic justice issues.
Strong understanding of issues facing the Asian American community and all marginalized communities including people of color, women, and LGBTQ community members.
Excited about individual, organizational and societal transformation.
Ability to work well in and build a team and is committed to modeling the world we want to see inside the organization and its campaigns and programs.
Ability to work well in and build coalitions.
Comfortable with occasional (up to 25% of work hours) travel when safe and required.
Ability to work some (10-15% of) evenings and weekends in the year.
Experience with CRM and donor software and technologies (e.g., Every Action, Mailchimp, Mobilize) preferred.
Bilingual in English and an Asian language is preferred.
